How Long Does It Take to Land Your First Cloud Computing Job?

Cloud computing is usually built on top of some prior technical background (networking, OS, or programming), which affects the timeline.

  • Core concepts + one platform (AWS, say): two to three months.
  • A foundational certification (Cloud Practitioner) + simple deployment projects: one more month.
  • Deeper specialization (DevOps or cloud security) for the most in-demand roles: three more months.

The realistic total for an entry-level role is about 5-7 months if you start with some basic technical background, and a bit longer with no prior technical background at all.
